simple things amaze me

I was sitting and staring at my shot of this Bedouin girl in Jordan, wondering what she would look like with green eyes, similar to that famous National Geo shot. So I got out my trusty photoshop circled the eyes and chose the Hue/Saturation tool.  Within seconds I was changing her eye color to all the colors of the rainbow.  For some reason I found this simple idea amazing.

Simply. Amazing.

  1. ah, the danger of playing with photoshop…and the brewing curiousity with just how far journalists can go without getting caught?

i’m not accusing you, just commenting that so many newspaper photogs get too caught up in the photoshop tricks for the sake of the more beautiful photo, the better moment, the less distracting background….how far do you think is too far?

    …could start an interesting discussion.

  2. they say cropping and simple image brightness and contrast adjustments is as far as a news journalist should go…beyond that is changing the integrity of the photo and moving away from the reality of the moment and into someone’s view of what they want reality to be.
