Mullah and Me
October 27, 2008  |  by paul  |  Kurdistan, theTravel

We met today with Mullah Bakhtiar, who essentially is the second in command of all Iraq.  He greeted Sami (the pastor from Lebanon whom SP has partnered with for many years/our guide for this trip through the middle east/one of the most amazing men i’ve met) with a big hug and smiles. The favor that Sami and Samaritan’s Purse have with the Government of Iraq is un-heard of.  The muslim governor of the area where we are building the center said to Sami “They (the muslim extremists) will hurt you only over my dead body” talking about the threats the government has received against the center being built by Christians.

Mullah Bakhtiar signed and gave us each one of his books, and treated us to dinner at the elite social club in the city.  I ordered the chicken…it was a little dry.

Sami and Mullah Bakhtiar laughing, and fruit...sitting.

Mullah and me, here's another fun fact: While everyone at dinner was wearing suits and ties and smelling nice, i was wearing this... jeans, polo, forgot my deo. Nobody told ME to pack for upper level government meetings!
